Rick Bandstra was born November 23, 1912, son of John and Minnie (Hulleman) Bandstra, he lived in the Chandler and Woodstock area most of his life. He married Jennie Gunnink November 18, 1942. He farmed all his life until they moved to Chandler in 1970 at which time he worked for Schuur Concrete until he retired in 1973. During his retirement he was active in gardening, working on crafts and maintenance of the Chandler Park. He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Chandler. He served as an elder of the church for several years, was a board member of S.W. Christian High School and board member of Chanarambie Township. He died at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 2 days.
He is survived by his wife Jennie, 5 children: Jim, Big Rapids, Michigan; Verla Mellema, Kent, Washington; Marg Runkle, Slayton, Minnesota; Patricia Sheffield, Fairfax, Virginia; and Robert, San Pedro, California; 10 grandchildren, one brother, Paul, Wyoming, Michigan and one sister, Henrietta Lolkus, Chandler, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gertrude and Betty.
