Mrs. Telitha E. Griffin, 95, of Ava died at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Jackson County Nursing Home, Murphysboro, after a six week illness.

She was born May 29, 1867, in Levan Township, Jackson County, the daughter of Carol and Harriet Gwin Pierson. She was married in 1891 to John L. Griffin, who died in 1910.

Mrs. Griffin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ava.

She leaves daughters, Mrs. Nettie Count of Collinsville, Mrs. Anna Williams of Ava, and Mrs. Agnes Wehrheim of Ava; sons, William and Don both of East St. Louis, and Henry of Jacksonville, Ark.; a stepson, E. B. Griffin of Murphysboro; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Stella Mayer of Durango, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Lydia Miller of Joliet; and 19 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilson Funeral Home, Ava. The Rev. Philip Asbury of the Ava Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
