Lee Fowler moved to Douglas in 1916 and homesteaded north of Douglas in the Highland community. He served in France during World War I.

He married Rachel Furman on March 29, 1924 in Douglas, and they have made their home on the Fowler ranch since that time.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and one of the earliest members of the Samuel Mares American Legion Post No. 8, and Farm Bureau in which he was an active member of his community group.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel, of Douglas; two daughters, Ruth Lundberg of Dallas, Texas and Rachel L. Gasbarre of Hot Springs; four granddaughters, Barbara Warner of Dallas, Janis Richards of Hot Springs, Karen Gasbarre of Dallas, and Debra Longo of Cody, Wyo.; two great-grandsons, Scott W. Richards of Hot Springs and Jeremiah Longo of Cody; and one great-granddaughter, Rachel M. Longo of Cody. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; one son, Robert Lee Fowler in 1929; and one daughter, Mary Jean Courtney in 1987.
