He was known as Timothy Murphy, Esquire, which would indicate that he was a lawyer or an area official. According to the 1917 book by the Rev. Ernest W. Mandeville, he died at the age of 63 years which would mean that he was born about 1748 or 1749.

On September 8, 2012 I received an email message from Clair Kinney that Timothy Murphy was a doctor born in Ireland and that the maiden name of his wife was Garrison. Clair found this information in an old family letter. The date of birth of Dr. Timothy Murphy is given as 1749 and year of death as 1812. Clair further supplies the information that Dr. Murphy and his wife had four sons and four daughters and that Mary Garrison Murphy (1756 - 1834) was a granddaughter of Richard Hartshorne.

Clair also states that the second son of the couple was John Garrison Murphy who was born January 7, 1783 and married Clarissa Runyon of Princeton, New Jersey and moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1808. John Garrison Murphy died February 11, 1853, age 70, a Methodist in religion.
