Son of Carl/Charles R. and Maria Victoria Schneider Meyer,he attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Grade School in Kiel,WI.
On 5th September, 1942, he married Loretta Margaret Wagner at St.Wendel Catholic Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1992. Loretta died in 1993 and Walter married Rose M. Schmitz Engel, the widow of Norbert Engel 13th May, 2000.
Loretta and Walter had four daughters and four sons. Rose was the mother of ten children and between them, there were many grandchildren and great-grandchildren which they enjoyed.

Walter J. Meyer, 86, of 16212 Cemetery Rd., rural Kiel died peacefully at home
surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 28, 2007.
He was born June 24, 1920 in the town of Schleswig, son of the late Charles and
Mary Schneider Meyer. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Kiel.
Walter married Loretta Wagner on Sept. 5 1942 at St. Wendel Catholic Church in
Cleveland. Loretta and Walter enjoyed 50 wonderful years together before she
passed away on April 26, 1993. Walter later married Rose Schmitz Engel on May 13,
2000. Walter farmed all his life on the family homestead. In his later years he
also volunteered at the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein. He was a
life-long member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel and a member of the
Knights of Columbus and the Holy name Society. Walter’s love for the land kept
him busy on the family farm helping drive tractor. Later in his life he enjoyed
gardening, sheepshead, furniture refinishing, collecting antiques and working at
the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse. Walter’s first love was his children, grand-
children and great grandchildren. He enjoyed the many family gatherings especially
their Thanksgiving meal at Millhome Supper Club.
Survivors include his loving wife Rose of rural Kiel; his son-in-law Richard Keuler,
Kiel; his children John (Tess) Meyer, Burlington, Vt., Terri (Lewie) Lundberg,
Hartford, Dori (Tom) Bibo, Pewaukee, Denny (Mary) Meyer, Ripon, Richard (Mary Jo)
Meyer, Kiel, Gary (Joyce) Meyer, Kiel, and Kay (Dennis) Whitney, Green Bay; 28
grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sr Mary Dolores Meyer, Rose
(Paul) Holshbach, and one brother-in-law, Lawrence (Josephine) Wagner.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joan Keuler; two brothers, Ralph and
Henry Meyer and four sisters, Florence Seichter, Sr. Alice Meyer, Gertie Muehlbauer
and Romilda Stemper.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church
with the Rev. Loren Nys, SDS officiating. Burial took place in the parish cemetery.
