"The following obituary, which appeared in the Lamont Leader, gives an account of the life of Mrs. Anna Brunkhorst, who grew up in the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, near Manchester.
'Services for Mrs. Anna Brunkhorst, 83, who died Tuesday, Jan. 18, were held at St. Mary's church in Lamont with the Rev. Norbert Showalter officiating.
Mrs. Brunkhorst was born September 20, 1871, at Tachau, Austria. She came to America with her parents, Francis and Barbara Thurn, when she was an infant. Soon after that her mother died and she was reared at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, near Manchester.
On April 21, 1891, she married Albert Brunkhorst at Masonville. They made their home on a farm south of Lamont. Upon retiring from the farm, they moved to Lamont, where Mr. Brunkhorst died in 1935.
She was a lifelong member of the Catholic church. She is survived by three daughters, Margaret, Lamont, Mrs. Della Wintakger, Masonville, Mrs. Chris (Bernice) Schumacker, Lamont, and one son, Joe, Masonville. There are 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and three half brothers, Will, John, and Ernest Thurn, all of Edgewood.'"
