Elizabeth was born in Boltigen, Switerland. She is the daughter of David Andrist(Sr.) and Anna Matti Jacobs Andrist. Siblings: Susanna, David, John, Anna, Jacob, Elizabeth, Samuel, and Emanuel.

Elizabeth immigrated to the United States with her parents and some of her siblings in 1854. Their family settled in Minnesota.

Elizabeth married Peter Kienholz on May 2, 1860 in Milton, Dodge, Minnesota. They had 6 known children: Elizabeth, David, Sarah, Mary, Mathilda C. and Clara. Peter and Elizabeth raised their children in Goodhue County, MN. Peter died in 1878.

Elizabeth married Charles Fellman on December 13, 1880 in Dodge County, Minnesota. Charles died on November 13, 1893. They had one son, John Wesley Fellmann.

Elizabeth married Herman Hanke on September 11, 1898 in Clark County, Wisconsin. There is some discrepancy over the spelling of Herman's last name. Some places it is Hanke and others it is Henke.
