His parents, Caleb and Elizabeth Bellomy Browning, both born in Jackson Co., Al., came to Texas about 1860.
Rev Caleb Leonidas Browning was a Methodist minister. He held many pastorates in Texas and at least one in Vinita, Ok where his only son was born. During one period he was instructor n Theology at Polytechnic College in Fort Worth, Tx. In Oklahoma he was president of Willie Halsell College, a school devoted to educating the Indians in Indian Territory. He was pastor of the Polytechnic College and Boulevard churches in Fort Worth. His last pastorates were in San Antonio, Tx. where he was responsible for building the first unit of the Alamo Heights United Methodist church. When he retired that membership honored him by changing the name to Browning United Methodist Church. following retirement from the ministry, he was in the insurance business until his death on June 22, 1959, at the age of more than 93 years.
He married Eula May Apperson Nov 26, 1892 and they had:
