Alex Beckius Died Suddenly in Shakopee
Alex Beckius, 68, of Shakopee passed away suddenly at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 21. Death was caused by a heart attack.

Mr. Beckius will be waked at the Phillips funeral home at Shakopee Thursday and Friday evenings and funeral services will be conducted at St. Mark's Catholic church at Shakopee Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.

Surviving the deceased are his wife; one son, Virgil, of Jordan; and four daughters, Mrs. Gerald Sames (Angelia), Mrs. Nick Wagner (Eileen), Mrs. Billy Sheehan (Larrie) and Mrs. Donald Muelken (Jean).

Rites in Shakopee For Alex Beckius
Alex J. Beckius, father of Jordan businessman Virgil Beckius, died of coronary artery occulsion about 9:15 Wednesday, June 21. Mr. Beckius, a Shakopee resident, died at St. Louis Park Hospital after a 10 hour illness. He was 67.

Funeral services were held at St. Mark's Catholic church at Saturday, June 24, with the Rev. Marvin Klaers officiating. Interment was in St. Mark's cemetery.

Pallbearers were Francis and Ralph Wermerskirchen, Hillard Marxen, Hubert Weckman, Clayton Schoenecker and Arnold Zirbes.

Mr. Beckius was born July 31, 1893, to Michael Beckius and Margaret Wolf at St. Joe. The deceased spent all of his life in the rural Jordan area with the exception of the years since 1946 when he and Mrs. Beckius moved to Shakopee.

Farming was his occupation for 30 years and he was later custodian of the Shakopee high school for 14 years.

A Catholic Aid Association member and Knight of Columbus, the latter attended the funeral in a body.

On January 23, 1917, he was married to Katherine Wermerskirchen at Jordan. Mrs. Beckius survives her husband.

In addition to one son Virgil of Jordan, three daughters, Mrs. Angela Sames of Shakopee, Mrs. Nic (Eileen) Wagner of Richfield, Mrs. Wm. Scheehan (Larry) of Prior Lake and Mrs. Don Muelken (Jean) of Minneapolis survive. Seventeen grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. E. J. Wermerskirchen (Annie) of Jordan and Mrs. Peter Wermerskirchen (Clara) of Shakopee also survive.

Friends and relatives attending the wake and funeral from a distance were from St. Paul, Minneapolis, New Prague, Lakeville, Hastings, Waconia, Prior Lake, Pierz, Jordan, Rosemount, So. St. Paul, Chaska, Kilkenny, Bird Island, New Market, St. Cloud, Bloomington, Richfield, Belle Plaine, Owatonna, Hopkins, Carver, Lydia, Savage, Mound, Redwood Falls and Shakopee.
