Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 9, at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant. A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant, with Rev. Peter Sickels officiating. Pallbearers are Tim Reimers, Kent Schmidt, Lawrence Johansen, Alfred Peters Jr., and Robert Peters. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Leona Frances Reimers was born July 30, 1904, in Cedar County, the daughter of Wilhelm and Dora (Descher) Reimers. She received her education in the Cedar County schools. She married Theodore Loppentien on December 15, 1928, in Davenport. Together they farmed in Cedar County, until they retired in 1956 and moved to Durant. Theodore preceded her in death on June 15, 1962. She later moved to Davenport to make her home.
Surviving are one sister, Minnie Peters of Durant, two sisters-in-law, Ethel Reimers and Eleanor Reimers, both of Durant; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Hertha Griebel, five brothers, Albert, Harry, Rudolph, George and Hugo Reimers, one half sister, Theresa Bailey, four half brothers, Otto, Franzisko, Walter and Raymond Reimers and one brother-in-law, Peter Peters.
