Sam and Marietta (or Mary as some called her) left Missouri in the late 1890s and the family moved to Oklahoma. The family that moved to Oklahoma was Samuel and his wife Marietta and four children -Alice, Nell, Harvey and Childress. They moved close to a place called Bradley (in present-day Grady County).
When Samuel first went to Oklahoma, he went with his brother Tom. Sam and Tom made the run for land in Oklahoma but Sam didn't get any. Tom did. After Sam and his family settled at Bradley, Sam rented some land from an Indian and began to do some farming.
The 1900 US Census of Oklahoma shows Sam Belshe, his wife and their first 4 children, mentioned earlier; Frank was not born until 1904.
The Census located them in Township 6 N. Range 3 W., Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. That Township would be located in today's McClain County, which is just south of present day Oklahoma City and adjacent (easterly) from Bradley.
At some point later it's thought that the Sam Meade Belshe family moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma, which is also in present-day Grady County.
