Mrs. Smith was a native of Montgomery County and had lived in Vidalia most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Randall O. Wilkes and Luta Humphrey Wilkes. She was a seamstress for Savannah Luggage and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sue Ellen McLemore, Vidalia, Ga.; one grandson, Bill McLemore, Vidalia, Ga.; and one nephew, Ronald Wilkes, Cedar Crossing.
Funeral services were for Mrs. Smith were held in Murchison Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 27, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Aaron Reaves officiating. Interment followed in North Thompson Cemetery. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers were Bo Allen, Duel Davis, Charles Humphrey, Dennis Usher, Jim Johnson and Ruben Venegas. Honorary pallbearers were T.R. Clifton, Milon Gay, Douglas Gay, Almeric Humphrey, Allen Rice, Lloyd Conaway and Maxwell Young.
