----------
Born by about 1590 (based on estimated date of marriage). Came to Massachusetts Bay in 1634 on the "Mary & John." (On 24 March 1633[/4], "Stephen Jurden" appeared on a list of men who took the oath of supremacy and allegiance at Southampton for passage to New England on the Mary & John). First settled in Ipswich; moved to Newbury by about 1660 (when he married his second wife). Died in Newbury 8 February 1669[/70].

(2) By about 1660 Susanna (_____) Merrill, widow of Nathaniel Merrill. She died at Newbury on 25 January 1672/3. (Mary Lovering Holman believed that she was a sister of Gregory Wolteron, but in 1993 Sanborn, Anderson and Smith demonstrated that this could not be, and her maiden surname remains unknown.
FRANCIS JORDAN {1634, Ipswich} appeared in Ipswich at the same time as Stephen Jordan. Stephen was probably about twenty years older than Francis, and there is no evidence of any interaction between them in New England, but a relationship between the two is possible.
