RUSHVILLE — Patricia "Patty" Gibbs, 75, of Connersville, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Patty's sister-in-law, Karlene Gray, officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel North Cemetery, Franklin County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Senior Center. Patricia "Patty" Gibbs, 75, of Connersville, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at her residence.

Patty was born April 5. 1936 to John and Thelma Johnson Gray in Laurel where she grew up and attended school. On February 17, 1952, she was married in Laurel to Jesse L. Gibbs, Sr. who died February 18, 2007. Patty devoted her life to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, often decorating for each holiday. In her leisure, she liked to fish, hunt and find mushrooms. Spending time traveling, camping and on their houseboat were favorite past times. For the past twenty years, Patty had been paralyzed following a stroke and received excellent care from the many home health employees.

Patty is survived by seven children and their spouses: Jesse L. Gibbs, Jr. and Ellen, Martha S. Gibbs, Darlene Kelley and her companion, Dexter Thomas; Larry W. Gibbs and Denise, all of Connersville; Sarah A. Brewer and Archie of Raleigh, Chester R. Gibbs and Jenni of Connersville, Shawn A. Gibbs and Misty of Bentonville; five siblings and their spouses: Ellen Gibbs Updike and Myron of Connersville, James Gray and his companion, Mary Bell of Everton, Irene Hudson of Connersville, Harold Gray and Mary of Mooreland, Bill Gray and Karlene of Connersville; Grandchildren: Bruce Bentley and Louann of Shelbyville, Bobbie LaFollette and Steve of Muncie, Jody Bulmar and Zach of Bellville, Illinois, Billie Koger and Scott of Rush County, Jesse L. "Bud" Gibbs III and his companion, Brittany Gibson; William Michael Clark and Aimee, Violet Marie Warren and Michael, Joey Kelley, all of Connersville; Jonathan Gibbs of Greensfork, Scott Gibbs and Kenya, Chris Gibbs and Myra, Chelsea Harris, Dakota, Jessica and Melody Carrico, Patricia Elizabeth Gibbs, Melissa Rowe and Ricky, all of Connersville; David Himes and Nikki of Rushville, Shyla Faith Brewer of Raleigh, Randall Brewer and Aleah of Blooming Grove, Amanda Gibbs, Chester "Buddy" Gibbs, Jr., Lewis Gibbs and his companion, Takoyyama, Megan, Shannon and Jesse James Gibbs, all of Connersville; William Austin, Chase and Heaven Gibbs all of Bentonville; 38 great-grandchildren with another on the way; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Patty was preceded in death by two sisters: Shirley Rowland and Ruth Ann Hamilton; and an infant brother: Lewis Franklin Gray.
