WATERBURY — Beatrice A. (Crowther) Broadus, 79, formerly of Naugatuck, entered into rest on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Griffin Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Ruben James Broadus Sr.
Beatrice was born in Shelton March 23, 1932, daughter of the late Albert and Estelle (Hames) Crowther. She was a supervisor at the Southbury Training School for many years, before her retirement, and was an advocate to the mentally handicapped. She was an avid reader and sports fan. Beatrice was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
She is the loving mother of Ruben James Broadus Jr. of Acworth, Ga., Charles Broadus of Seymour, William Broadus of McKinney, Texas, David Broadus of Waterbury, Thomas Broadus of Terryville, Susan Broadus of Prospect, Janice Petracca of Vancouver, Wash., and her late son, Robert Buismato. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Eric, Sarah, Rachel, Caitlin, Thomas, Cara, Shane, Brian, Albert, Melissa and Megan; two great-grandchildren; a brother, George Crowther of Shelton; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call on Saturday at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
