Scott Lee Shaw
GALENA, KANSAS: Scott Lee "Scotty" Shaw, age 58, 413 E 21st St, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at his home following an illness.
Scotty was born November 29, 1952 in Joplin, Missouri. His parents were Max R. and Mildred B. (Beasley) Shaw.
He graduated from Galena High School in 1970.
He then began working at McNally's in Pittsburg, KS until he entered the U S Marine Corp in 1973. Upon is honorary discharge in 1977, he was reinstated as an employee at McNally's.
He later became employed as a police officer for the City of Galena. He advanced in rank to become the Police Chief for a period of time.
He then began work at Cardinal Scale, Webb City, MO. His last employment was at Thermal Engineering Inc., Joplin, MO where he worked as a welder for the past 22 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Galena, KS. He was also a member of the Midwest Hunters Association.
His activities and interests included bow hunting, fishing, carpentry, leather work, caring for animals, and activities with his family and friends.
Surviving is one daughter, Katland Grace Shaw, of the home and Joplin, Mo; one brother, Michael D (and Diane) Shaw, Lowell, KS; two sisters, Linda Ipock, Baxter Springs, KS, and Terri J Freeman, Galena, KS; nieces and nephews, Lisa (and Greg) Cowan, Phoenix, AZ, Mitch (and Tina) Shaw, Independence, KS, Stacie Newman, Galena, KS, Tracy (and Teresa) Freeman, Riverton, KS, and Eric (and Donna) Ipock, Riverton, KS; one aunt, Lois Hixson, Missouri; and several cousins, great nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, November 11, 2011 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Jeff D. Martin will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 10 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Galena Education Foundation or the Galena Police Dept Christmas Toy Drive in care of the funeral home.

I don't remember which hospital Scotty was born at, but am certain it was in Jasper County MO.
