Pearl Leoda Leach Gordon

Born September 15, 1922 to Ruth and John Leach in Spring City, Tennessee. Pearl graduated from Sander's School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1944. Her first job was at the hospital for the Manhattan Project, Oak Ridge, Tenn. In 1945 she and her BFF Roberta Jones were reassigned to the other top-secret location when the Project was moved to Los Alamos, N.M. where they continued to serve their country as civilian nurses until 1946. In 1954 she met and married her second husband, the late Walter A Gordon. Pearl worked for various doctors and at Community Hospital before retiring in 1966. She and Walt were avid archery enthusiast, hunting, camping and traveling across the USA. Survivors include stepdaughter, Linda Tate of Missouri; stepson, Fred Gordon of Indianapolis; nieces, Sharon Finch of Kentucky, Cynthia Taylor of Tennessee; and friend, Donna Badger-Nell of California. Pearl's family would like to thank Dr. Eric Rubenstein and the entire Oncology Staff at Saint Frances South & all those at Saint Francis Beech Grove for their care and kindness. Viewing at 10:30 AM, funeral service at 11:30 AM, Saturday, November 12 at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home , 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana.
