Robert D. Scott, 81, Iowa City, formerly of Lone Tree, died Saturday, September 14, 2002, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after a short illness.

Memorial services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lone Tree. Honorary pallbearers are David Scott, Marc Scott, Patrick Scott, and Pete Scott. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457. After the burial, a luncheon will be held at the church. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, Lone Tree. A memorial has been established.

Mr. Scott was born on May 13, 1921, in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of Glenn and Grace (Dwyer) Scott. He married Betty Jane Petsel on January 11, 1946, in Anderson, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 1999. He served in the U.S. Air Force from February 19, 1942 to September 15, 1945, as a Sergeant. He was a combat veteran stationed in England. He farmed in the Lone Tree area for several years and later worked for the Oakdale Rehabilitation Services as a vocational rehabilitator. He loved to golf and was on a bowling league in Iowa City.

Survivors include four sons, David Scott of Iowa City, Marc Scott and his wife, Connie, of Maui, Hawaii, Patrick Scott and Pete Scott and his wife, Diane, all of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Josi, Keaton, and Keely; and two sisters, Gerry Groves of Kokomo and Eileen Morton of Warsaw, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Joe; and four sisters, Ruth, Ida, Joanne and Mary.
