1919 - 2003
Edwin Boyce Asay, Sr., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at his daughter's home in Orem. He was 83 years old. He was born on April 17, 1919, in Lovell, Wyoming, the eighth of 11 children of Adelbert and Delila [Delilah] May Boice Asay.
On the 6th of June, 1940, he married his sweetheart, Bernece Asay. She passed away on Nov. 12, 1992. They were the parents of three children, Billie Myers of Sidney, Mont., Ed Acey (Patty) of Spanish Fork and Jodie (Richard) Warner of Orem; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He married Doris Powell Morley on Nov. 11, 1995; they were later divorced. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Zela McCaffrey of Sun City, Ariz., Merill (Delsa) of Lovell, Cal (Colleen) Asay of Australia and Helen (Charly) Shumway of Vernal.
He was first a plasterer by trade, and then worked over 30 years at the Pine Hill School for Boys in Miles City, Mont. He did cement and tile work all over the state. After he retired, Boyce and Bernece moved to Utah. He then worked at Fritzy's of Utah, in Spanish Fork.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, and served in numerous positions, including 13 years as the president of the Miles City Branch. We will miss him. He is with Ma and Pa, and he gives his love freely to us, until we meet again.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m., in the Cherry Hill 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 1700 South 400 East, Orem. Friends may call at the Ward chapel, one hour prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. Services under the direction of Berg Mortuary of Provo.
