Son of Steven Barnes and Sarah Elizabeth Perry. Lived in Dawson Springs Ky and was a carpenter for the railroad. When he developed a heart condition, he retired and operated a popcorn machine at the railroad station in Dawson Springs. He died on the way home from work of a heart attack in 1920. His 15 year old daughter, Zilpha, found him and friends helped her pick up the coins that were spilled on the ground. Two weeks later his oldest daughter was shot and killed by her brother-in-law. He left 4 children, Virginia Hazel, Flossie, Ray and Zilpha. I never got to meet him as he died long before I was born.
