The Hartwell Sun, 8 Jan 1926 - Mr,. John H. Bailey, age 71 years, died at the home in Oak Bower comm., Tues., morning, 5 Jan 1926, after being ill for the past year.
The deceased was born in Hart county 24 Jan 1854. He was one of the county's oldest & best known citizens. Mr. Bailey was a member of Oak Bower Bapt. church. Interment will be in the Oak Bower cemetery.
Surviving are his widow, who was Miss Martha Yeargin before marriage; 4sons: C. H. & C. E. Bailey-Hart Co. & Gordon & W. W. Bailey-Florida; 4daus: Mrs. S. E. Walters, Mrs. J. B. Bailey & Mrs. Leonard Vickery, all of Hart Co. & Mrs. J. H. Osborn-Iva, SC. 2sisters: Mrs. William Rumsey-Iva, SC & Mrs. T. B. Dooley-Florida; also 3bros: Messrs. R. J., W. M., & J. G. Bailey-Alabama.
Mr. Bailey was highly respected by all who knew him; he will be missed in the community & county.
