Hasken Eber Shepherd, son of James A. and Lydia A. Shepherd, was born April 17th, 1867 in New London, Iowa. He came with his parents to Cincinnati, Iowa in 1885. When about 19 years of age he united with the Christian church at Mt. Olive. He was united in marriage to Sarah Points, Sep. 21, 1906, who preceded him in death, Oct 1914. He resided here until 1915 when he went to Bloomfield to make his home with his mother, his father passing away on Nov. 19, 1912. He leaves a brother C. J., of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, a sister Mrs. Letta Sloan, of Bloomfield and his sister here, Mrs. H.S. Jaquiss where he has
made his home for the last three years 7 months, his mother preceding him in death August 31, 1931. He had been in failing health for several months and the last few weeks his condition became critical and he passed away Nov. 16, 1939 at 3:15 a.m. at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 29 days. Hasken was a man of good kind heart and his many friends will miss him.
Funeral services were held at the Best Funeral home at Cincinnati Saturday, November 18, 1939 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth E. Hunt officiating. Burial was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Bloomfield, Ia.
