The gravestone is badly worn and deteriorating. The above information was written down by Richard Clark (great, great, great grandson) while on a business trip to western New York in June of 1999. A picture of Margaretta has been found that was taken at her son Wolfs homestead. Bernard Elling and Richard Clark have pictures.

Death of Mrs. Margaret Elling Yesteday Morning
Hinsdale, april 12, Yesterds morning at 11 o'clock occured the death of Mrs. Margaret Elling at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Miller at Pleasant Valley, Mrs. Elling was born in Germany 87 years ago last november. Her husband died there. She came to this town to live with her daughter about 30 years ago and has made her home with her the most of the time since. She has always been a very smart old lady never having had any serious sickness until about a year ago when a tumor deveoloped. Since then she has suffered from its effects. About three months ago she became unable to retain scarcely any nourishment and has been a constant sufferer since. Gradually she grew weaker until the end. She is survived by her daughter and five sons, Christian, Wolfe and Adam who reside and Christopher of Aetna, Pa, and John of Sharpesburg, Pa. the funeral will be held at the home of Mrs. John Miller on Thursday at 1 o'clock. Rev F. C. Weidman of the German Lutheran church of Olean will officiate. Burial will take place at Maplehurst.
8/11/99 - Richard Clark spoke with Candace (Candy) Gailer, recorder for Hinsdale. (716 - 372-4735) She did not have any information in her books regarding Margaretta's mother but the records did have information on her father: A.F. Buef??? The handwriting was very hard to read. It could possibly be Bucher or Butcher ???
