Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 27, at Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, N.D. Interment was held at the Grand Rapids Cemetery in Grand Rapids, N.D.
Arthur was born July 26, 1913 on the family homestead west of Streeter, N.D., the son of Fred and Rosina (Schanabel) Stroh. He attended school in Streeter, N.D. and farmed with his father near Streeter, N.D. In 1933, the family moved to a farm near LaMoure, N.D.
He married Adeline Dathe on September 3, 1938, at Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, N.D. They rented various farms until 1944, when they purchased a farm northwest of LaMoure. They practiced diversified farming until his retirement in 1974 and continued living on the farm until his death. He was very active in the community, serving on Zion Lutheran Church council, church treasurer and Grand Rapids elevator board. In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, experimenting with fruit trees and driving tractor. Most of all, he enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Adeline; two sons, David (Marlene) of Thief River Falls and Dan (Lucy) of LaMoure, ND.; three daughters, Kaye Reirerson of Raleigh, NC, Mary Lou (Donald) Gentzkow and Linda (Ray) Thielges, both of LaMoure, ND; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther (Doug) Gohman of Berlin, ND; two brothers Gustav (Mildred) of Burlingston, WA, and Benjamin (Margaret) of Galt, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and three sisters.
