Stuart Arie DeCook was born on July 22, 1940, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. His parents, Arie J. and Tonetta Frances(Van Essen)DeCook, farmed west of Pella, Iowa for many years. Stu, as he was often known, graduated from Pella Public High School with the Class of 1959. Automotives were a life time interest of Stu's. He pursued mechanics, collecting cars(Junk)and racing(sprint cars). When not doing that he enjoyed baseball(St. Louis Cardinals), football and his cat. On Thursday, November 3, 2011, he passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella at the age of 71 years. Surviving is an Aunt A. Theresa(Van Essen)Rempe of Oskaloosa, Iowa, several cousins and many friends(Phyllis DeCook). He was preceded in death by his father, Arie J. DeCook at age 73, his mother, Tonetta(Nettie)DeCook at age 72; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Anna(Keuning)Van Essen; his paternal grandparents, John A. and Artie(Eeling)DeCook and Jennie(Schippers)DeCook; and the following Uncles and Aunts: N Clarence and Rose Van Essen, Harold and Alice Van Essen, Homer(Dutch)Rempe, and Ruth(Van Essen)and Cecil Barnes.
A visitation will be held Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 4-5:30 pm. at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home, Pella, Iowa. Inurnment will be made in the Oakwood Cemetery at Pella, Iowa.
