Mr. DeCook was born in Taintor and farmed near Pella until his retirement in 1971. He moved to Monroe in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Tonetta; a son, Stuart of Pella; his stepmother, Jennie DeCook of Pella; a stepbrother, Marvin Schippers of Pella; and a stepsister, Leona DeBruyn of Newton.

Funeral services for Arie J. DeCook, 73, were held Dec. 30, 1985, at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
Merle Larsen of Pleasantville conducted services. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
He died Friday morning at his home.
Survivors are his wife, Tonetta; a son, Stuart A. of Pella; his stepmother, Jennie DeCook of Pella; a stepbrother, Marvin Schippers of Pella; and a stepsister, Leona DeBruyn of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The son of John A. and Artie Eeling DeKock, he was born Oct. 27, 1912 in Taintor. He attended Sandridge Rural School and Pella Public High School.
He was married to Tonetta Frances Van Essen Feb. 12, 1936'
