Monroe, IA – Services for Arie J. DeCook, 73, of Monroe, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday at home, will e at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Dr. Fred Carpenter, jasper County medical examiner, ruled the death a suicide.
Mr. DeCook was born in Taintor and farmed near Pella until his retirement in 1971. He moved to Monroe in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Tonetta; a son, Stuart of Pella; his stepmother, Jennie DeCook of Pella; a stepbrother, Marvin Schippers of Pella; and a stepsister, Leona DeBruyn of Newton.
