He is considered the patriarch of the Vermont Meads.

Fought in the Revolution with his son & his grandson. All three were in Allen's Regiment of Vermont.

In about 1743 moved from Horseneck, Greenwich, Ct. to Nine Partners in Dutchess County, NY. From there, to Vermont in about 1769. He lived near his son, Col. James Mead in Rutland. Died at Otter Creek, Rutland, Vermont. Timothy's will was supposedly probated in 1784 but has not been found.

Listed as a member of the Congregational Church of Pittsford, Rutland, Vermont from 1785 and having died while a member.
