He worked as a sailor on the Great Lakes for some time and settled on a farm in Canada West (Ontario), Canada. In the 1851 census his occupation is listed as farmer; in the 1861 census his occupation is listed as yeoman; in the 1871 census his occupation is listed as farmer.
On 21 Jan 1845 he married Catherina Kaiser at St. Agatha, Wilmot Township, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Their homestead was in New Prussia, a mission of St. Agatha, about 7 miles away. He lived next his brother, Michael and a short distance from their father, also named Peter Brick, in the 1851 Census. The 1861 Census indicates that they lived in a log house.
His oldest son, also named Peter Brick, was the first in the family to move to St. Cloud, Minnesota. Some of his other twelve children also moved to Minnesota before he moved with the rest of the family to St. Cloud in 1876.
At the time that he died, on 10 Aug 1904, he lived with his youngest son, Eugene, and his family.
Peter and Catherine had thirteen children; one died as an infant in 1850. Carolina (Mrs. Leo Fischer) died in 1886. John, who owned a brewery and bar in St. Cloud also died in 1886. Leo P Brick died in 1896. Survivors were Judge Peter Brick, Anton Brick, and Eugene Brick of St. Cloud; Mary Magdalena (Mrs. Joseph Meyer), Amelia "Emily" (Mrs. Michael Denis – Emily was previously married to John Wimmer of Preius and Wimmer Brewrey. He died in 1898), Maryanna (Mrs. Peter Kuborn), Catherine (Mrs. Peter Medved), August Brick, and Simon Brick of Little Falls.
