Daughter of General Winfield Scott and his wife Maria DeHart Mayo Scott. Married Charles Carroll MacTavish.

Children:
1. Maria Mayo, b. 1853, d. 1921; became a Carmelite nun on entering a convent in Brussels, Belgium.
2. Emily Caton, b. 1855, d. 28 Jun 1939; became Sister Mary Agnes of the Visitation on entering Mount de Sales Convent in Baltimore.
3. Charles Carroll, Jr., b. 28 Mar 1856, d. 30 May 1948; married Mary Bergin, no children.
4. Virginia Scott, b. 26 Jan 1859, d. 27 Feb 1919 in Rome; never married.
5. Paul Winfield Scott, b. 1860, d. young.

MRS. MacTAVISH DIES IN ROME
Daughter of Gen. Scott and Married Descendant of Charles Carroll

BALTIMORE, Feb. 18 -- Mrs. Marcella MacTavish, widow of Charles Carroll MacTavish, who was a descendant of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, died yesterday in Rome. She was the daughter of Gen. Winfield Scott and a very accomplished woman.

Mrs. MacTavish and daughter were leaders in the American circle in Rome. They frequently visited their family connections in this country, including former Gov. John Lee Carroll. Two daughters of Mrs. MacTavish are nuns, one in Belgium, the other in St. Louis.
