Mrs. Henry Will Dead.
Elizabeth Schriever was born at Bethel, Shelby county, Mo., on the 30th day of December, 1851, and died at her home in Bethel on the 10th day of June, 1914. Aged 62 years, 5 months and 11 days. She was united in marriage to Henry Will on the 3rd day of April, 1873. Six children were born to them—Mrs. Lizzie Bower, Miss Louisa Will, Mrs. Emma Erich, Mrs. Alma Brothers, Irwine Will and Mrs. Catherine Nicol, all of Bethel. Besides her husband and children she has left to mourn her death eight grandchildren, three brothers, John, Henry and Samuel Schriever; also one sister, Mrs. Grossman.
She united with the M. E. church on the 5th day of January,m 1902, and lived a quiet, consistent christian life, honored and respected by all who knew her. She suffered much pain during the past winter and in the hope of relieving her of her suffering submitted to a surgical operation in the month of May. The operation was seemingly successful and she returned home looking as if she might be spared to her family and friends for some years to come. But it was not to be. Some part of the delicate physical machinery had been overstrained and serious symptoms began to appear. Everything that love and care combined with medical skill could do was done for her. But she gradually became weaker and on Wednesday evening, June 10, about 10:30 she passed peacefully away to her eternal rest. Once more the silver cord has been loosed. Once more the golden bowl has been broken. Once more the pitcher has been broken at the fountain. Once more the wheel has been broken at the cistern and the mourners go about the streets because one more has gone to her long home.
After a brief service at the home the funeral was preached at the M. E. church to a very large congregation by Rev. D. Cunningham and the remains were laid away in the old Hebron cemetery to await the resurrection morning.—D. C.
