Spencer and Martha married August 16, 1868 in Clarke Co., MS (Book C, Page 154A),

In addition I found a handwritten note with the marriage information. It stated the following:

“Clarke Co., Miss to G. W. Massingale,
Clerk of Probate,
Sir this is my consent that the bearer, Spencer D. Ellis present you this instrument you will
please issue a license for the purpose of marrying my daughter Martha E. Irby who is a minor and oblige.
Your humble servant.
(/s/) Z. W. Irby”
