A funeral for Stanley Boyd Manes of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Restlawn Funeral Home, 201 Oak Grove Road N.W., Salem, with the Rev. J.J. Stewart and the Rev. Doug Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery.

The funeral home will be open for viewing from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Manes died April 30, 2003, in Willamette Valley Medical Center, McMinnville. He was 88.

Born July 22, 1914, in Sheridan, Wyo., he was the son of Edith and Stanley Manes. He lived in Astoria, then in Portland, where he graduated from Benson Tech.

He used skills he learned in high school to become an automotive lubrication engineer for Richfield Oil/Arco. He worked for the company for 33 years.

He married Gladys Pearson.

Mr. Manes was a member and past master of Masonic Union Lodge No. 3, AF&AM, McMinnville. He was past master of the Scottish Rite Temple in Salem and had attained the 32nd degree KCCH.

He belonged to the First Christian Church in McMinnville and had served as a greeter there for many years.

Mr. Manes was an avid radio operator and a longtime member of the McMinnville Amateur Radio Club. He also enjoyed working on his computer.

His family said he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his son, Scott Manes of Salem; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1987 and by his daughter, Stana Manes, in 2000.
