Taken from the Bruning-Danekas Reunion booklet from 5-27-2007:
The only daughter of Johann & Geske Bruning was born in Bohlenberge, Germany, on February 23, 1839 and came to America with her parents and other family members in 1861. They settled in Eureka, Illinois, where Margaretha met Robert (Ubbe) Danekas. They married on 3-8-1862. Eventually the young couple joined two of her brothers and their families in Nebraska, settling on a farm south of Milford. Margaretha died on April 21, 1923, and Robert on June 23, 1917. Unlike the rest of the Bruning siblings, the Danekas family remained in the Milford area. The children who survived infancy were Gerhart, Herman, William, Fredrick W., Margaret, Etta, and Robert.
