Robert Gillespsie Dies.
Robert Gillespie who has been an old resident of Summerfield and vicinity for about 35 or 40 years, died last Thursday evening about seven o'clock. Mr. Gillespie has long been a sufferer, but was taken sick this time about two weeks prior to his death, and was never able to be up again. The passing away of Mr. Gillespie means that Summerfield has lost one of its most respected citizens and a man who was one of the pioneer business men of the town.
Mr. Gillespie was born in Clark county, Indiana, on July 18, 1842 and died September 20, 1917. He married Miss Margaret Bowyer in Indiana in 1893 and moved with his wife to Summerfield and have made their home here ever since, where they have commanded the respect of all who have known them.
The funeral was held last Sunday at the Presbyterian church conducted by Dr. McCrory and interment was made in the Summerfield cemetery. Mr. Gillespie left to mourn his departure, a wife, two brothers, J. A. Gillespie of Loveland, Colo. and J. P. Gillespie of Stephens, Minnesota, one sister, Mrs. Regina Carr, of Sask., Canada, besides a wide acquaintance of friends.
