The death of Mrs. Sarah Cortright Wells occurred at her home in Newark Valley, early Thursday morning, October 5, 1933, after a short illness.
On December 26, 1877, she was married to William F. Wells and went to live in the old Wells Homestead where she died. She had no children of her own, but Mrs. Warren Cameron lived with her for several years, and later W.D. Patterson. Since her husband's death, August 15, 1907, Mr. Patterson and his family have stayed with her and cared for her.
She leaves one sister, Mrs. Antoinette Johnson of Moravia, and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the O. E. S. Chapter in Newark Valley and in earlier years was very active in that and other Masonic work.
Funeral services were held at her late home on Saturday at 3 o'clock and burial was in Hope cemetery, Newark Valley.
