It is unclear who her mother is. On the 1850 census her mother is Minerva J., born about 1831 in New York. In all subsequent census records her mother is Naomi J., born about 1831 in Putnam Co., NY and her father, William E. Moseman is only on the 1850 and 1855 census records, no others. In the 1865 census Jane and Naomi are living with Naomi's parents and Naomi is listed as divorced, had a total of 2 children, though Jane is the only child on any of the census records. So, either Minerva J. and Naomi J. are the same person, or Naomi is a step-mother. It is also interesting to note that on the 1865 census Jane is listed as a granddaughter for Naomi's parents.
