Robert Adams was born April 12, 1806 in Pennsylvania, son of Jonathan and Margaret Adams. He died August 30, 1873 in Vernon County, Wisconsin and was buried there in the Salem Ridge Cemetery.

Robert married twice with his first marriage January 1, 1829 to Annis Ball in Morgan County, Ohio. She was born in 1801 in Virginia, daughter of Elijah Ball. She died September 2, 1865 in Vernon County, Wisconsin and was buried in the Salem Ridge Cemetery. Their five children were: Elizabeth, b. 30 May 1829 in Pennsylvania; Franklin, b. May 1830 in Ohio; Margaret Jane, b. 1832 in Ohio; John Wesley, b. 1837 in Ohio; & William Fletcher, b. 1839.

On October 6, 1867 Robert married Mary Ann Brown in Vernon County, Wisconsin. Mary Ann was born September 10, 1820 in Ohio, daughter of James and Mary Ann Brown. She died September 25, 1899 in Webster Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin and was buried there in the Salem Ridge Cemetery.
