On November 19, 1855, Abigail was united in marriage to George W. Brown, in a ceremony performed by J.C. Smith, Justice of the Peace, in Clinton Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin. They were the parents of five children of whom only Margaret and Simeon survived infancy. Their children, all born in Viroqua, Vernon County, Wisconsin, were:

Abigail Adams had at least one brother, Mordecai Adams. Mordecai Adams had a daughter who married John F. Snodgrass, born in 1843. She died, he remarried and in 1922 was living in La Farge, Vernon County, Wisconsin.
It is a family tradition in the George Brown family that Abigail Adams was descended from the Abigail Adams that was the wife of President Adams and the mother of John Quincy Adams. Goodsell Appleman of Vernon County, Wisconsin, reportedly told members of George Brown's family, that Adam relatives had traced the family way back, but were never able to make the connecting link to President Adams.
