Leutnant Karl-Wilhelm BRINKBÄUMER was a naval officer attached to the Luftwaffe. His Junkers Ju 88 aircraft was shot down and crashed near Selsey on 13 August 1940. He perished along with his crew: Alfons SCHLEUPLEIN; Walter BICKEL; Josef DIETL and Otto RÖGER (q.v.).
