Donald & Marjory
Love is like the wind over the hill
One cannot command it to still
One cannot tell it to blow
One cannot tell it where to go.

Love is like the wind in the trees
Sometimes it is as a warm refreshing breeze
Sometimes it comes in tornado strength
Sometimes it gets them soon, sometimes at length.

Love is like the wind as it blows along
Not all are affected—no matter how strong
Some go far away before they are struck
Some stay at home and find their luck.

Donald and Marjory, as far as I know,
Just met, and love began to grow & grow.
When at church their eyes would often meet
Although they were bashful & did not share the same seat.

When at Young Peoples they had opportunity to attend
They soon together made their homeward way wend.
With hidden admiration coming forth is open show
Love soon began to develop and then to glow.

After Donald had been in the service of Uncle Sam
And home he came on furlough cupid took him in hand.
Even his driving was affected as he watched his honey dove.
He hit a bump so hard Marjory hit her head – more love.

The Dr. took some stitches & bandaged her so neat
Donald tried still harder to show his love so sweet.
Marjory ever cheerful and jolly as her lot
Just laughed it off & sang as she went about.

With a shining milk pail swinging on her arm
She went singing about her work in the house or in the barn.
With her happy carefree disposition, she was always willing to be
Wherever her services were needed you can easily see.

Sealed letters never whisper the messages of love
Only the mail man knew how often Donald wrote to his dove.
What a relief to the mailman when the discharge finally came.
Donald and Marjory could speak their love and not depend on mail.
Time has a way of bringing things to light.
Soon Marjory was flashing a diamond so pretty & bright
So far so good as the saying goes.
One more big job__ Donald must be on his toes.

Naturally, Rev. Wickman was the one to tie the knot
But to muster up courage to ask him __that took a lot.
Marjory was getting worried and wished the ordeal done
"You must go and speak to him. You know dear, you're the one."

Finally, the task is finished, finally the date is set.
Wickman was at his leisure & soon the request was met.
Saturday May 10, is the time chosen by the two
They then will join hands and hearts begin life anew.

Donald as a mechanic in Ogilvie near by
They'll make their home and continue in our group they'll try.
We're so glad he is not taking Marjory away
We want all our young folks nearby to stay.

We are gathered here this evening to offer wishes true
May the wind of love be ever blowing on you.
May you grow dearer and sweeter as the years roll by
May you count your wedding day as a beacon in your sky.

As your vows you'll take before the alter soon
May you pledge your constant love and allegiance true
May you take Christ as the King of your heart
May allegiance to Him be the aim and motive__not a part.

Establish your home with Christ as its head
He'll carry your joys and sorrow, He has said.
An ever-present guest you may know.
Always an ever-present help wherever you go.

To Donald & Marjory our wishes sincere
May you know only joy and never a tear.
May God's richest blessing attend you, too
These are our hearty wishes to you.
