Sophie Brungardt, 90, Grinnell, passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter.

She was born April 10, 1908, to Michael and Elizabeth (Boxler) Brungardt in Victoria. She had been a Grinnell resident for 46 years, moving from Morland. On June 26, 1928, she married F. A. Brungardt in St. Peter. She was a homemaker, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the church altar society of Grinnell.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth F. of Ft. Worth, TX, and Thomas V. of Denver, CO; a daughter Joan Bechard of Clyde; a brother John of Overland Park; two sisters, Clara Dreiling and Freda Schmidt, both of Hays; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1997; a son, Hubert Francis in infancy; a grandchild, Gary Brungardt; two brothers, Pete and Tom; and four sisters, Alice McAleer, Fina Brungardt, Mary Brown, and Hubertine Schmidt.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Immaculate Conception Church, Grinnell, with Fr. Roger K. Meitl officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
