He attended high school at Maur Hill Prep in Atchison and college at Kansas State University. In April of 1951, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country as a Second Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict.
On April 15, 1952, he married Bernice Korbe in Hays, and they were blessed with nine children during their 56 year marriage. Bernice died Nov. 8, 2008.
He is survived by three daughters, Rene Morris, Danberry, Neb., Sonya Medberry, Atlanta, Ga., and Gina Smith, Hutchinson; five sons, Mike, Bedford, Texas, Kevin, Sublette, Steve, Danberry, Neb., Tom, Holcomb, and Brian, Bison; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Bechard, Clyde.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; son, Gary; brother, Vernon; and his parents, F.A. and Sophia Brungardt.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Mennonite Manor Chapel, 600 W. Blanchard, South Hutchinson. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney.
