Benton - Kathleen REA, 89, of Benton, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, in Severin Intermediate
Care Center in Benton. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Valier. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, to the funeral home. She was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Murphysboro, the daughter of Samuel and Lena (Kennedy) Patchett, who preceded her in death. She married J. Wesley Rea on Nov. 24, 1935, in Valier Methodist Church, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Rea retired as a nurse after 30 years at Marion Memorial Hospital. She attended Valier Methodist Church, and was a member of DAR Home Extension and Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, Mark Rea and wife, Roxanna, of Benton; two grandchildren, Shawn Rea of Pawnee and David Rea of Benton; and a sister, Betty Huey, of Zeigler. Her parents, husband, and three brothers preceded her in death.
