SUPERIOR - Michael T. "Mick" Bailey, 70, of Superior, passed away in Missoula on Saturday, July 17, 2010, due to heart failure.

Mick was born Oct. 12, 1939, in Missoula to "Honest" Tom and Jo Bailey. Mick was the oldest of six children. He resided in Superior all his life except his short journey through Cheney, Wash., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Plains.

He married Dana Baker on June 21, 1958, in Superior. To this union, three children were born: Mike, Debbie and Gary. They settled in Superior in 1968 to raise their family. Mick was a logger all his life and his house was always open to everyone with a cold beer in the fridge. Mick and Dana owned and operated Bailey's Artic Cat and Stihl & Yamaha Motorcycles for many years. They also owned and operated Bailey & Sons Logging in Superior. He was an avid fisherman and camper and loved to take his motor home out.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dana, parents Tom and Jo Bailey and brother-in-law Alan Baker.

Mick is survived by his three children, Mike (Debbie) of Superior, Debbie (Rick Woodard) of Gillette, Wyo., and Gary (Gail) of Superior; sisters Susie (Ray Moss), Linda (Mike Shiflett) and Candy Gonsalves (Chuck); brothers Pat (Sharon) and Tim; Mick's grandchildren, Julie, Amber, Nick, Jess, Brittney, Zach, Kelci and Trevor; great-grandchildren Bailey, Nathaniel, Jacob, Jaycee, Tegan, Isabella, Cooper and Jack; in-laws Lois and Herb Baker; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Women in Timber Scholarship Fund, c/o Joann Merseal, 12 Moats Lane, Superior, MT 59872.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the Superior High School gym with a reception to follow at the 4-H building. Private burial will be at Quartz Cemetery.

Cremation is under the care of Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula.
