John William Woods was the first son of Joseph William and Cenia Alabama Sims Woods. He moved to Somerville at an early age.
He only had a '9th Grade' education, but never stopped reading and learning. He had a photografic memory and instant recall.
He and Vivian Elizabeth Thomas were married in her hometown, but lived all their married life in Somerville. They did not have any children but they were added 'Grandparents' to Lela and Lee Davis' children and grandchildren.
