Fr. E. J. Schuetz, Peoria, Dies; Bishop Dunne and Vicar General Shannon Injured.
PEORIA. Oct.5--Fr. Edward J. Schuetz, chancellor of Peoria diocese and priest at St. Mary's cathedral here, was killed instantly, Rt. Rev. Edmund M. Dunne, bishop of the diocese of Peoria sustained a dislocation of the right shoulder, and Very Rev. James V. Shannon, vicar general of Peoria and rector of the cathedral sustained a sprained ankle Wednesday when the automobile in which they were going to a confirmation ceremony in Princeville, Ill., ten miles north of here, skidded and turned over in a ditch one and one-half miles east of Princevllle.
Caught Under Car.
F. Schuetz was caught under the car and his neck broken. Fr. Shannon was brought to a hospital here, while Bishop Dunne, despite his injury, went on to Princeville. Fr. Schuetz, the dead priest, was born in Streator, Ill., and was only recently recently made chancellor of the diocese. He was the master of ceremonies at the funeral of the late Arch-Bishop Spalding.
