Adolph Clasen, 70, of Rt. 3, Manitowoc died Friday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc ,after an illness of three weeks. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John' Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg, the Rev A.T. Degner officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Clasen was born Oct. 18, 1891, in the Town of Newton, son of the late John H. and Louise Lemke Clasen. He was a veteran of World War I, serving from May, 1918 to December, 1918, as a private in Company 4, Discharge Attachment. On Sept 25, 1919, he was married to Lynda Waach at Newtonburg. The couple located on a farm in the Town of Newton, where Mr. Clasen operated an apiary. He was assessor for the Town of Newton for 21 years, trustee of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, secretary of the English Lake Telephone Co. and member of Manitowoc County and State Bee Keepers associations.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward Eslinger of Rt. Mishicot; a brother, Herman of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Mathilda Kolb of Rt. 3, Manitowoc. His wife preceded him in death 3 1/2 years ago. A son, Kermit, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Mathies also preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ninth Street entrance, until 10:30 a.m. Monday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in state until the hour of service.
