Yella Miedema, 80, of Clinton, died at Beloit Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was born Dec. 22, 1893 in the Netherlands, the son of Andrew and Gertie Miedema. He came to the United States at the age of 8 and all of his younger years were spent in Pella, Iowa. He married Gertie Helmhout on Feb. 21, 1917 at Pella. He moved to Clinton in 1937. He was a retired farmer and member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church, Clinton and was a past church deacon. He was active in Clinton Kiwanis Club, Senior Citizens and Kazoo Choristers. He is survived by his wife; three sons; three daughters; four sisters; 8 grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by five -brothers and one son.

Yella Miedema married Gertie Helmhout on 21 Februrary 1917 in Pella, Iowa. They moved to Lakeview,South Dakota in 1924 and farmed there with Gertie's father until 1937 when they moved to Clinton, Rock County, Wisconsin. They farmed near Sharon, Walworth County, Wisconsin, retiring in 1962. They sold their farm and moved to the town of Clinton, Rock County, Wisconsin in retirement. Their home was near the schools, their church and the downtown area of Clinton. Yella and Gertie were well-known in their community and remembered with love.
