His career was highlighted by a variety of assignments, including: Aviation Officer Candidate School, Naval Aviation Schools Command, NAS Pensacola, FL; Patrol Squadron Eleven, NAS Brunswick, ME, Naval Air Training Unit, Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento, CA; two tours on board USS Saratoga (CV-60); USS Forrestal (CV-59), Mayport, FL; and two tours at Naval Aviation Schools Command, NAS Pensacola, FL.

He is also survived by his three sons; Sonny Reid (Pensacola, FL), Sean Reid (Pace, FL) and Ryan Reid (Columbus, GA) and their wives Angel, Jenene, and Crystal. Dennis is survived by five wonderful grandchildren, and several very supportive cousins.

Dennis graduated from the University of Georgia with a Music Education Degree and was a die hard "Bulldog" that bled red and black.

Music was always the center of his world. After retiring from the Navy, he went back to teaching school and being a band director for several high schools and middle schools in FL, GA and AL. He retired from the Georgia Teaching System in 2005 with 18 years of service. Also, throughout his whole career, he continued to serve his Lord by being a music director for over 30 years for churches in Columbus, GA and Pensacola, FL.

His family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice, Sweetwater Medical Supply and Cokesbury United Methodist Church for their loving care and support throughout his illness. We will always be grateful.
