Colonel Lloyd Warner Preston of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the age of 92. He is survived by his stepson Michael Randall (wife Melinda) of Ft Worth, Texas; step grandson Jordon Randall of Ft Worth, Texas; niece Anita Louise Schaezler of Dallas, Texas. Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Irene Stevenson; parents Cassius and Georgina; brother Clark Arthur; brother Keith; sister Jeanette. Colonel Preston was born on July 31, 1918 in Streator, Illinois where he spent his childhood through high school. After college, he embarked on a long and distinguished military career in the US Air Force. After completing flight school, he piloted numerous types of planes including the B-17, B-29, and B-47 bombers. Col Preston served from 1941-1968. He was a decorated veteran earning many medals of honor for his military service, including foreign duty after WWII and serving in the Korean War. His service took him all over the world and included a squadron commander post in Okinawa, Japan and base commander posts in Spain, California and Carswell AFB in Fort Worth. After retiring from the military, he fostered his love of flying by establishing a pilot training school. His independent, humble ways and adventurous spirit was admired by many and will be dearly missed.Memorials may be made to the .
